The fact of the matter is that pregnant women are at an elevated risk for hemorrhoid formation. As a pregnant woman's body changes throughout the pregnancy such changes put additional pressure on the female's anorectal area: this pressure can lead to the formation of internal as well as external hemorrhoids. Giving birth also increases one's risk of developing hemorrhoids because so much pressure is placed on the anorectal region during labor.
